DISCUSSION: Fidel Castro, hero of the people or another autocrat?

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, a Cuban revolutionary, a Cuban politician, a model ideological leader of Marxism-Leninism - a reformist and a supporter of socialism, revolution and revisionism. It was Fidel, along with Che Guevara and their guerrilla force who overthrew the U.S.-backed Fulgencio Batista government and gave Cuba it's freedom. From that point on, the U.S. attempted to heavily alienate the republic, blocking trade, spreading fear propaganda and excluding the country from all other Western political decisions. There have been many assassination attempts on Fidel Castro's life, both by the C.I.A. and many other independent factions, but the fact remains that under his leadership, Cuba has some of the highest literacy rates and lowest infant mortality rates in the world.

In your opinion, what are the various pro's and con's, positives and negatives of Castro's leadership, the Republic of Cuba and his political regime?

And do you support Fidel Castro and Communist Cuba? Why, or why not?

Fidel Castro has been working in Africa many years and done great work. Educating and health aswell as leisure. He stopped wars down there and took refugees home to cuba. Recentely more. Another noteworthy event in Haiti is how the US installed the puppet dictator Papa Doc, who ended up establishing a secret police who killed 100.000 people with machete knives.

Fidel is an aging man, I just hope that he's remembered properly when he passes away. It will be a sad day for me.
