Medieval Catholicism

As we all know, the only thing keeping the peasents from revolting earlier, and stronger with the revolts that actually happend, the Catholic Church. It kept a lot of things back, Technology, thinking, a wider range of arts, etc. Then when the Reformation came, that set a way of Enlightenment because people figured out that they had power against the church, so leading to this time, letting loose the technology that built up.

Religion is the opium of the masses. Reformism and revisionism, comrade. If only people would seek enlightenment through truth. It feels better than the best of lies.

I wonder who will be the Martin Luther of economics, if you catch my drift...
